| OUR AREA |
| Our area of Northwest Wisconsin is full of year around recreational
opportunities centered around the water and the woods. The landscape is
dominated by water. There are hundreds of lakes, many rivers, streams
and large and small wetlands. All of the water is flowing toward the St.
Croix River, which forms the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The area
lakes are mostly seepage lakes with sandy bottoms and clear water. They
vary in size with the average being about 100 acres - each with its own
charm.
The land is open and wooded, upland and lowland with hardwoods and pine.
This variety of habitat is home to many kinds of wildlife. There are
thousands of acres of public land throughout the area. Season to season,
there are many activities for second home owners and residents alike.
Spring and summer are spent on the water - fishing, boating and canoeing
or off the water hiking, biking and golfing. Fall brings the spectacular
colors of changing leaves and cooler weather for hiking and hunting.
Winter brings the snow for snowmobiling on hundreds of miles of trails
as well as cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing.
It is easy to get here, but with our many resources, unspoiled
environment and peace and quiet, it will be hard to leave. Whether you
are looking for a second home get-away or a place to live, our part of
Northwest Wisconsin is a special place.
